In India, News18 reports that more than 3,000 fueling stations in West Bengal went on strike for 24 hours to protest the government’s move to boost ethanol blending to 22.5%. The state is very humid and there are concerns that higher ethanol blends could attract water molecules into gasoline and cause problems for vehicles. Issues have already been reported due to E10. The state’s fuel retailers association has threatened to protest even longer if their demands aren’t met. Indian Oil stations didn’t participate in the protest, so although fuel was available, the lines were exceptionally long.
