The Competitive Edge: Observing I Ecotech

September 16, 2021 |

Q: What was the reason for founding your organization – what was the open niche you saw that could be addressed with a new product or service? What was the problem, or gap, or opportunity?

The reason for founding the company Observing I Ecotech was to provide Solutions to Pollution. Waste to Wealth – is the largest sector available, since non-biodegradable waste has increased exponentially with the onset of Covid. Also, the manual segregation of waste is currently hazardous to the manpower employed to do this.

The complete solution lies in our Zero Residue Waste Conversion Plants – that are Pyrolysis based and facilitate conversion of unsegregated waste into energy by-products, i.e. Liquid Fuel, Gas and Carbon Black.

All these by-products are reusable energy products.

Q: Tell us about your organization. What do you do?

Our organization has as Partner, Mr Nafde, who has developed, and optimized the technology. I (Charmaine Fernandes Sharma, Managing Partner) have a long experience as entrepreneur in developing proprietary products, first in the Biotechnology Sector and now in Sustainable Technologies.

Developed also NIL Polluting enzyme wash for textiles and hand knotted carpets, that currently use highly polluting wash ingredients, that pollute the soil and harm agriculture.

The Company has brought the Waste Conversion Plants technology to commercial level, and a functioning Plant processing 10 Tons per Day, of unsegregated MSW in India. The Plant has demonstrated successfully the complete and safe conversion of Waste. There is NIL CO2 emissions from the process.

Q: What stage of development are you?

Commercial stage – have mature products or services on the market.

Q: What do your technologies, products or services do and accomplish – how does it (they) work, who is it (they) aimed for?

  • Zero-Residue Waste Conversion Plants can address all types of Waste, including all types of plastics.
  • Municipal Solid Waste
  • Biomedical Waste
  • E-Waste
  • Vehicle Tires
  • Biomass and Agricultural Waste
  • The Plants accept shredded waste that is converted into Hydrocarbons (as per their composition) in a high temperature Pyrolysis Reactor. All material is converted without incineration of any material, and therefore the NIL CO2 emissions.
  • International Sector Studies of – Waste to Energy technologies have shown more than 85% to use Pyrolysis in the coming years.

Q: Competitively, what gives your technology, product or service set an edge in cost or performance, sustainability, or any other aspect, that makes it stand out from the crowd, In short, what makes it transformative?

Sustainability Advantages:

1. NIL CO2 emissions from the process.

2. No formation of Dioxins and Furans since there is no incineration of materials.

3. One Plant processing 10 Tons per Day of unsegregated MSW will prevent 3.5 tons of CO2 from being emitted into the atmosphere.

4. Can prevent waste from being dumped into Landfills and thereby prevent pollution to ground water and atmosphere.

Economic Advantages:

1. Complete utilization of Waste into reusable energy products.

2. In developing countries can support the economic recovery of rural populations, by making the energy by-products available to hem at lower costs than commercial fuels.

3. Economically viable Project since the waste is most often delivered to the Plant at NIL Cost and the by-products derived from the waste are all commercially viable energy products.

Q: What are the 3 top milestones you have accomplished in the past 3 years?

  1. 1. Bringing the Technology to Commercial level
  2. 2. Setting up Commercial Level Plant at our own cost with no funding support available.
  3. 3. Achieving complete conversion of UNSEGREGATED waste, comprising biomass, plastics etc together, without segregation.

Q: What are the 3 top milestones you will accomplish in the next 3 years?

  1. 1. Increasing Sale of the existing Plants.
  2. 2. Design and Development of smaller Plants, that are economically viable.
  3. 3. Design and development of Mobile Plants that can collect waste and convert it simultaneously, so pile up of waste is minimized in Urban Areas, and Landfills can be avoided.
