American Bakers Association pushing for RVO freeze due to soy oil demand

In Washington, Food Business News reports that American Baking Association is calling for a freeze on biodiesel blending mandates, claiming that bakers don’t have access to enough soy oil due to increasing competition with biodiesel and renewable diesel. If the Environmental Protection Agency sticks with the status quo for renewable volume obligations for 2022, demand for biodiesel would rise by 800 million gallons which will further tighten the market and edible oil availability for bakers, the ABA says.
