#1 Mushroom leather hits the catwalk

In France, Stella McCartney has featured a bag made out of mushroom leather at the recent Paris Fashion Week. The material, trade named Mylo, was produced by Bolt Threads using mushroom root.

Stella McCartney, a UK-based design house that has been a leader in sustainable fashion innovation, has previously displayed tops and pants made from Mylo, but the Frame Mylo bag will be the first mushroom-based product available for sale. The bag is made in the brand’s iconic Falabella bag design.

“With good reason, consumers are demanding sustainable material alternatives that also look and feel great,” says Bolt Threads CEO and Founder Dan Widmaier. “The Frayme Mylo bag is a huge milestone for sustainable fashion, making better material options accessible to consumers all around the world.”

Other sustainable Stella McCartney products include Eclypse sneakers from both biobased and recycled materials.
