Belfast trialing HVO in city fleet as well as for heating fuel in households

In the UK, Irish News reports the City of Belfast is set to launch a two-month trial testing the use of HVO in a dozen city vehicles while the Housing Executive is also thought to have recently launched a small-scale trial using HVO as heating fuel in homes. Roughly two-thirds of homes in Northern Ireland are heating with heating oil. Although subsidies have been launched in England and Wales to help transition homes to heat pumps, the installation costs remain high so HVO is seen as an opportunity to decarbonize household heating at more affordable prices.
