#3 Louis Vuitton introduces $1,000 corn-based sneaker

In Paris, iconic luxury brand Louis Vuitton has introduced a unisex sneaker made from 90% recycled and biobased materials.

The pricey kicks, named Charlie, feature an upper made from Biopoliolo, a corn based plastic; a tongue patch made of Econyl biobased nylon; a sole made almost entirely of recycled rubber; and laces with recycled fiber.

Charlie is now available as low or high-tops. The low tops are priced at just over a grand, while the sneaker-boot style will set you back over $1,100. The only color option is white with black and grey embellishments.

Whether or not Louis Vuitton brand ambassadors and K pop superstars BTS will be part of the ad campaign for Charlie remains to be seen.
