India reaches recording ethanol blending at 8.1% during 2020/21

In India, the Business Standard newspaper reports ethanol blending reached a record level of 8.1% at 3.03 billion liters during 2020/21 as the country heads towards 10% in the season that just began on November 1 and 20% by 2025. Sugar mills recently sent a letter to the Prime Minister complaining that some oil marketing companies are favoring corn-based ethanol rather than sugarcane-based and instituting conditions that discourage traditional ethanol producers. Prices were also recently raised for molasses-based ethanol.
