Biden administration toying with cutting 2022 RVO following oil lobby pressure

January 12, 2022 |

In Washington, Reuters reports that following the recent announcement by the Environmental Protection Agency of blending mandates for 2022, the Biden Administration is considering cutting those levels after facing backlash from the oil industry and its lobbies. The oil industry claims that there isn’t enough ethanol available to achieve the 15 billion gallons mandated for blending in 2022 and the EPA appears to believe those claims. The EPA had first thought to set the 2022 RVO at 14.1 billion gallons but pushed it to 15 billion gallons in line with original legislation following pressure from Midwest Democrats.
