ALUR sells 4,000 tons of canola-based biodiesel to Trafigura for $5M

February 23, 2022 |

In Uruguay, El Observador reports that Alcoholes de Uruguay has sold 4,000 metric tons of canola-based biodiesel—10% of its annual production—for export to the European Union to Trafigura for $5 million following a bidding process and later commercial negotiations. The ISCC certified fuel will go to a Scandinavian country after first passing through the port of Amsterdam. Only four of the 120 companies requested to make an offer for the fuel made a bid, and none of them reached the price that ALUR was looking for, so they eventually settled with Trafigura.
