Crimson Renewable Energy unveils expansion project

April 14, 2022 |

In California, Crimson Renewable Energy formally unveiled its newly completed expansion project at its Bakersfield facility, making the company the largest producer or ultra-low carbon biodiesel in the Western United States. The multi-million-dollar plant expansion makes it possible for Crimson to use a greater variety of waste oils and byproduct inedible fats to produce ultra-low carbon biodiesel.

The plant was designed by BDI-BioEnergy International, an engineering firm based in Austria, specializing in designing and building biodiesel production facilities. The new plant takes the annual capacity of Crimson Bakersfield facility to just over 37 million gallons of biodiesel. Most of that biodiesel is consumed in the Bakersfield-Fresno and Bakersfield-Los Angeles corridors of I-5 and Highway 99.
