Sunbird Bioenergy to start ethanol production and blending in Zambia in August

In Zambia, the Lusaka Times newspaper reports Sunbird Bioenergy is set to start producing ethanol from cassava in August. Once production begins, a blending trial will take place together with Indeni Petroleum Refinery in Ndola with expectations that 10% ethanol will eventually be blended locally. About 5,000 outgrowers produce cassava for the new facility with harvesting set to start next week. Sunbird also has 1,200 ha of nursery to provide plants for those outgrower farmers.
