The Competitive Edge: ECOCORP’s Biogas Tech

June 16, 2022 |

Biogas is booming and ECOCORP is on it with its core biogas tech helping the industry grow. As a commercial stage company, they design, permit, construct, commission and operate biogas plants but what is perhaps most interesting is the dry, thermophilic two-step (hydrolysis and fermentation) anaerobic co-digestion with high organic loading and reduced retention time.

In today’s Digest, all about ECOCORP’s tech, how the biogas relates to RNG (hint: the biogas is upgraded to RNG and the CO2 is captured and sold as green industrial gas), their big milestones, and more.

Q: Tell us about your organization. What do you do?

Design, permit, construct, commission and operate biogas plants.

Q: What stage of development are you?

Commercial stage – have mature products or services on the market.

Q: What do your technologies, products or services do and accomplish – how does it (they) work, who is it (they) aimed for?

The core technology is dry, thermophilic two-step (hydrolysis and fermentation) anaerobic co-digestion with high organic loading and reduced retention time. The technology employs preprocessing comprised of proprietary size reduction and homogenization and post-processing comprised of separation of solids and liquids, stabilization of solids and removal of the ammonia and potassium as bio-fertilizers. The biogas is upgraded to RNG and the CO2 is captured and sold as green industrial gas.

Q: Competitively, what gives your technology, product or service set an edge in cost or performance, sustainability, or any other aspect, that makes it stand out from the crowd, In short, what makes it transformative?

Increased production of biogas coupled with lower capital and O&M costs, maximum efficiency in the generation of RNG with concurrent production of green carbon dioxide, and production of ammonia and other bio-fertilizers.

Q: What are the top milestones you have accomplished in the past 3 years?

Standardized an industrial type biogas production unit that can be employed in a parallel fashion at a site depending on availability of feedstock materials, has incorporated technology that can capture 99%+ of the methane in the biogas into RNG along with sequestration of the carbon dioxide in the biogas as a green industrial gas, and has added technology for the capture of the ammonia in the digester effluent as a bio-fertilizer.

Q: What are the top milestones you will accomplish in the next 3 years?

Develop several facilities across the country, streamline the entire development effort and reduce further the biogas production unit cost.
