Red Trail Energy began injecting captured carbon into the ground a month ago

In North Dakota, for the past month, Red Trail Energy has removed carbon dioxide from its existing ethanol manufacturing facility and injected it into the ground. North Dakota secured Class VI primacy in 2018 under the EPA, which laid the groundwork for carbon capture project. Injection began at the Richardton, North Dakota ethanol facility on June 16. Red Trail Energy is the first CCS permitted in North Dakota and in the U.S. under Class VI injection primacy.
