H2Carrier receives Approval in Principle from DNV

In Norway, H2Carrier, the developer of the proprietary floating energy production and storage system P2XFloater said that this latter system has now obtained ‘Approval in Principle’ (AiP) from DNV which affirms the technical feasibility of the design.

DNV is an international accredited registrar and classification society headquartered in Norway, which provides services for several industries including maritime, oil and gas, renewable energy, electrification, food and beverage and healthcare.

DNV’s Vice President, Business Development for Floating Production, Conn Fagan, said “the AiP covers all aspects of the integrated vessel concept including structural integrity, mooring, ammonia production, ammonia storage and cargo handling. The AiP assessment has looked at the technical challenges associated with offshore ammonia production and has concluded that there are no insurmountable difficulties to preclude future classification of the design,” said Fagan.

“The innovative P2XFloater concept provide a low-cost, fast-track and flexible solution to produce green ammonia on an industrial scale and at a competitive price. Market demand is rapidly increasing primarily due to the decarbonization of the industrial and maritime sector” said Mårten Lunde, CEO of H2Carrier AS.

H2Carrier said it has developed the P2XFloater concept in a close cooperation with maritime and process engineering companies in Norway.
