Uttar Pradesh’s cabinet approves new bioenergy policy

In India, the Daily Pioneer newspaper reports Uttar Pradesh’s cabinet has approved the new bioenergy policy that will financially support the introduction of new compressed biogas, bio-coal, bio-ethanol and biodiesel projects in an effort to significantly reduce fossil fuel consumption in the state. The new policy will be in place for five years. In 2018, the state established a policy that provided up to 100% refunds on certain taxes to support bioenergy project development and implementation.
