In India, the Business Standard newspaper reports HPCL-Mittal Energy plans to commission its 100,000 metric ton per year ethanol plant next year. The facility is collocated at its Bathinda refinery in northern India and will use food waste and other agricultural residues as feedstock. The company has invested in the project to reduce its carbon emissions. Ethanol blending is mandated to reach 20% blending by 2025/26 nationwide but some states could already hit that level next year.
