CEBU Pacific signs SAF agreement with Shell

September 29, 2022 |

In the Philippines, The Manila Times reported that local low-cost airline CEBU Pacific and Shell have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the delivery of sustainable aviation fuel.

According to the report, Shell Aviation President Jan Toschka said that the oil firm will be supplying Cebu Pacific with 25,000 metric tons of SAF for five years, starting in 2026.

“As the aviation industry accounts for 3% of all global carbon dioxide emissions, and with Asia Pacific becoming the main driver of growth in global passenger numbers in the coming years, there is no option but for the whole industry to come together in terms of promoting and practicing sustainability. With SAF, we hope to at least take that first step,” the executive was quoted as saying.

The report also stated that Cebu Pacific will be the carrier in the country to incorporate the use of blended SAF in its commercial operations.
