Global Bioenergies aims to build plant to produce SAF in 2027

In France, Marketplace reported that French firm Global Bioenergies has plans to build a plant producing 30,000 tons of aviation fuel from timber waste in 2027. According to the report, Global Bioenergies opened a facility this year that uses bacteria to produce a hydrocarbon from sugar. Earlier this month, Global Bioenergies had delivered a 200-liter batch of sustainable aviation fuel for tests commissioned as part of the GENOPTAIRE project funded by the French government defense procurement and technology agency (DGA). The project, which forms part of the ministry’s defense energy strategy, seeks to promote technological advances in the design and use of military platforms making use of electric-powered transport and alternative fuels.
