January 25, 2023 |

In Spain, Compromiso RSE reported that Spanish low-cost airline Vueling is encouraging the production of sustainable aviation fuels in Spain. Franc Sanmartí, Vueling’s Director of Sustainability and Government Affairs , explained that “the use of SAF enables CO2 emissions to be reduced by up to more than 80% , and all this while being able to use the fleets with which airlines currently operate. However, he recalled that at the moment “sufficient levels of SAF are not being produced to satisfy the demand of the industry”. “A collective effort of all the actors in the value chain is necessary: airlines, manufacturers, fuel suppliers, legislators and investors to build a new sustainable aviation fuel supply chain,” he added. The IAG Group, to which Vueling belongs, had previously committed to operate with 10% SAF on its flights in 2030.
