Brazil to boost biodiesel blending to 12% from April

March 20, 2023 |

In Brazil, Folha Press reports the National Energy Policy Council (CNPE) agreed to increase biodiesel blending to 12% from the current 10% as of April, with blending increasing by 1% annually until reaching 15% in 2026. President Lula attended the meeting. In 2021, former president Bolsonaro decided to drop the blending rate to 10% and keep it at the level in an effort to slow down fuel price increases. Lula has been seen as a pro-renewables president.
