Report states Finnish region could produce 10% of EU green hydrogen

March 23, 2023 |

In the United Kingdom, Renews.biz reported that the North Ostrobothnia region in Finland should be able to produce at least 10% of the EU’s green hydrogen in 2030, according to a study by the VTT Technical Research Center of Finland. The report stated that North Ostrobothnia a very promising region for hydrogen production, due to its significant wind power capacity. Hydrogen production from renewable energy in North Ostrobothnia could be enough to meet the targets set by the Finnish government’s Hydrogen Policy Statement, in which Finland aims to produce at least 10% of the EU’s zero-emission hydrogen in 2030. In the future, large amounts of energy could be costeffectively transported in the region if hydrogen, produced in a decentralized manner in wind farms, were to be transported by pipeline, the report added.
