Survey shows shipowners getting serious about decarbonization and alternative fuels

In the UK, Offshore Biz reports results from the new Watson Farley & Williams (WFW) survey titled ‘The Sustainability Imperative – Part 2’ shows shipowners are quickly seeing that decarbonization of the industry is a reality and they must onboard changes in a hurry to keep up. The same survey two years ago said 12% of shipowners weren’t looking to find alternative bunker fuels in the next five years, but now only 2% remain steadfast. LNG’s popularity as an alternative fuel has plummeted in the past two years with just 35% of shipowners expecting to use the fuel while 60% now see biofuel as the fuel of choice.
