Indian government approves 42 of first 75 urban biogas plants

In India, the Indian Express newspaper reports that in line with the finance minister’s 2023/24 budget speech made on February 1 that said the government would support setting up 500 urban biogas plants around the country, with 75 already on deck for this year, the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry has already approved 42 of the plants. The plants will process a total of 6,213 metric tons of wet waste per day, with the majority located in Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Punjab.
