Egypt to install its first factory producing electricity from biogas

In Egypt, Egypt Independent reported that Mawared Industries signed a contract with the National Company for Animal Production of the National Service Projects Organization to establish Egypt’s first factory to generate electricity from bioenergy in Sadat City.

The factory will process 85,000 tons of cattle dung annually to produce one megawatt/hour of electricity to be connected to the national electricity grid, according to the report.

The facility will also produce more than 80,000 tons of high-quality organic fertilizer.

The report also noted that the factory will also contribute to reducing greenhouse emissions by about 5,000 tons of carbon dioxide.
