In Japan, NHK reported that Japanese airline All Nippon Airways said it is making all of its flights to and from Hiroshima Airport carbon neutral this month to coincide with the upcoming Group of Seven summit in the city of Hiroshima. The airline said it is undertaking the initiative with major natural resource developer Inpex and oil wholesaler Idemitsu Kosan. All 682 of the domestic flights connecting Hiroshima to Haneda in Tokyo, New Chitose in Hokkaido and Naha in Okinawa Prefecture will be supplied with jet fuel whose carbon dioxide emissions are offset through carbon credit trades, according to the report. According to the airline, the initiative will help reduce emissions by nearly 10,000 tons.
