In Singapore, Bloomberg reports the country imported a record amount of used cooking oil from China in May, mostly due to increased demand from Neste’s biorefinery. May imports were at 48,832 metric tons, 18% higher than in April and nearly double that of May 2022. China’s total UCO exports rose 9% in May to 151,428 tons amidst concerns by the European Union of fraudulent imports that prompted an investigation by the European Commission, as requested by Germany.
