India seen boosting rice ethanol price despite stopping rice feedstock supplies

In India, the Hindu Business Line reports that new higher prices for ethanol made from rice and corn have been approved and are about to be rolled out in an effort to help reach 12% ethanol blending nationwide, yet the government recently retracted its approval for ethanol from rice due to food security concerns. Supply of broken rice was stopped in July, leading to an expected drop of ethanol production between August and October when the sugarcane crush will kick off again. As of June 23, ethanol blending reached 11.77%.
