Malaysian Palm Oil Board and Petronas look at palm oil waste as SAF feedstock

In Malaysia, The Star newspaper reports that the palm oil board has teamed up with Petronas to research the possibility of using used cooking oil and palm wastes including palm oil mill effluents (POME) as feedstocks for sustainable aviation fuels. POME volumes pose a challenge for the palm oil industry although some are already used to produce fertilisers and phenolic extracts, but using POME would help to tackle even more of those wastes while achieving circularity goals.
