European Commission probes possible Indonesian biodiesel diversion through China and UK

August 17, 2023 |

In Belgium, Reuters reports the European Commission has launched an investigation into Indonesia for allegedly circumventing anti-dumping duties on its biodiesel by shipping the fuel through China and the UK. The probe was originally requested by the European Biodiesel Board who blew the whistle on a significant increase of biodiesel imports coming in since 2022 that flooded the EU market and sunk prices for European producers. Earlier this week, Indonesia sought WTO consultations with the European Commission over the countervailing duties that the probe is investigating if the country circumventing them by going through China and the UK.
