South Dakota PUC rejects Summit Carbon Solutions permit application

September 11, 2023 |

In South Dakota, Reuters reports on the first day of what would have been three weeks of deliberation, the three-person Public Utilities Commission has unanimously rejected Summit Carbon Solutions’ permit application for its planned CO2 pipeline. The company has said it will refine and refile its application as a result of the rejection that was based on staff recommendation concerned about county ordinance violations regarding setbacks and other issues. Last Friday, the PUC denied Navigator CO2’s permit application due to safety concerns and lack of landowner support in the project. SCS says it has signed 73% of the landowners along its proposed South Dakota route.
