The Digest’s 2023 Multi-Slide Guide to the Feedstock Conversion Interface Consortium and Task X
Category: 8-Slide Guide
The Feedstock-Conversion Interface Consortium is led by DOE as a collaborative effort among researchers from 9 National Labs. The key ideas? 1. Biomass feedstock properties are variable and different from other Commodities. 2. Empirical approaches to address these issues have been unsuccessful. The FCIC is developing first principles-based knowledge and tools to understand and mitigate the effects of biomass feedstock and process variability on biorefineries. FCIC principal investigator Ed Wolfrum gave this overview of FCIC at DOE’s Project Peer Review meetings.
