Waste-to-energy market to reach value of $43.1 billion by 2031, report finds

In Delaware, Transparency Market Research reported that the global waste-to-energy market stood at $26.8 billion in 2022 and is projected to reach $43.1 billion in 2031. 

The report stated that the global waste-to-energy market is anticipated to expand at a CAGR of 6.1% between 2022 and 2031.

“The global market is significantly driven by the potential advantages of waste-to-energy and an increase in government policies toward developing waste-to-energy during the forecast period,” the report stated. “Demand for energy is increasing along with the prices of oil and gas. Governments are taking various initiatives to reuse and recycle waste and convert it into energy. Innovative waste-to-energy plants are being developed for proper waste management in developing countries,” it added.

According to the report, Europe accounted for a share of 39.48% of the global market in 2021. This trend is projected to continue during the forecast period. Asia Pacific is also a key market for waste-to-energy. The region held a 30.59% share of the global market in 2021, the report stated.
