Vow Green Metals produces first run of biocarbon as part of commissioning process

November 28, 2023 |

In Norway, recently, the first 80 kilograms of biocarbon was successfully produced as part of the hot commissioning of Vow Green Metals’ early production line at Hønefoss, marking a major milestone for the project. With its production capacity of 2,500 tons, the early production line will accelerate Vow Green Metals’ commercial

operations by enabling the company to deliver industrial volumes of biocarbon to established partners and provide product samples to mature new markets and relationships with industrial offtakers. The early production line employs a Biogreen pyrolysis reactor, which operates solely on electric power. It will have a total annual production capacity of 2,500 tons of biocarbon.

Vow Green Metals expects to finalize the commissioning process of the early production line in November, before entering operations and ramping up production over the following months.

The early production line will be followed by a large-scale biocarbon production facility located in the same industrial area at Hønefoss. The large-scale facility will become one of Europe’s largest, with its 20,000 tons production capacity and abatement potential of 100,000 tons of fossil CO2 p.a.
