November 30, 2023 |

In Illinois, the Chicago Tribune newspaper reports that Irish start-up Silicate is trialing its concept of spreading concrete dust to capture CO2 from the air on corn and soybean farm 60 miles south of Chicago. Between 500 and 1,000 tons of fine dust from ready-mix concrete that has been returned was spread over 100 acres as part of the company’s first trial in the United States where as much as 220 of CO2 could be captured and returned to the soil over the next year.
