The Digest’s 2023 Multi-Slide Guide to the role of biomass in forest management

November 30, 2023 |

The Tule River Indian Reservation is 56,000 acres serving about 2,000 members drawn from Yokuts, Pauite, Mono, Tubatulabal tribes. Found on the foothills and western slopes of the Sierra Nevada, land uses include forestry, cattle ranching, and hunting. With serious challenges including pine beetle kill, wildfire, overstocking, the tribes have turned to biomass usage as a path forward in forest management, and these slides were presented at ABLC Next 2023 by tribal forester Ian Cummins on the projects and the progress.
