CNPE will hold extraordinary meeting in December to discuss increasing biodiesel blend and halt imports

December 13, 2023 |

In Brazil, BiodieselBR reports the CNPE (National Energy Policy Council) will hold an extraordinary meeting in December to discuss bringing forward the schedule to increase biodiesel blending.

The meeting may also veto a resolution from the ANP (National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels) that authorized the import of up to 20% of the biofuel used in the mixture.

Currently, the biodiesel content in diesel is 12%. The CNPE determined this year that this blend should reach 15% by 2026. However, it is the government’s desire to accelerate the blend proportion. In September, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva expressed his desire to increase the blend from 12% to 14%.
