KR approves HMM’s methanol retrofit design

In Korea, Safety4sea reported that Korean Register (KR) has granted approval in principle (AiP) for the methanol dual-fuel retrofit design of a 16,000 TEU container ship owned by Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM).

According to KR, this container ship was developed in collaboration with HD Hyundai Marine Solution, HD Hyundai E&T, and HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering Co., Ltd.

“KR is committed to the goals of digitalization and decarbonization, and we will continue collaborating closely with our partners to achieve world-class competitiveness,” said the classification society in a post.
