Westfalen Group switches to bio-LNG

January 1, 2024 |

In Germany, Petrol Plaza reported that the Westfalen Group will be relying on CO2-neutral bio-LNG for its mobility customers in the freight forwarding and logistics sector.

The report noted that fuel produced from liquefied bio-methane is replacing its fossil counterpart at the four Westfalen LNG filling stations in Münster, Herford, Herne and Cologne. Westfalen will provide its customers with proof of the actual CO2 savings depending on the amount of Bio-LNG used, according to the report.

“Bio-LNG allows CO2 savings of up to 100%. In addition, hardly any nitrogen oxides and particulate matter are released during combustion. This makes the fuel very attractive for our customers who want to offer their freight services in a more sustainable way,” said Andre Stracke, Head of Mobility at Westfalen.

The switch to bio-LNG is made possible by a cooperation between Westfalen and revis bioenergy that was established in March 2023, the report added.
