Argentina’s ethanol production declines by 1% year-on-year in 2023

In Argentina, TN reported that a report by the Rosario Grain Exchange stated that the production of ethanol production was expected to decline by 1% year-on-year in 2023 after three consecutive years of growth. Last year, this industry reached a record production of 1.16 million cubic meters.

“This fall is far from being catastrophic, with forecasts of only 7,000 cubic meters below 2022, explained by the drop in bioethanol production from sugar cane. However, the transformation volumes of sugar and corn still have a lot of potential to underpin value addition and sustainability in the provision of fuel,” the report indicated.

Among the ethanol-producing provinces, Córdoba leads the ranking. The province accounts for more than 50% of the national production of bioethanol.

In second place is the province of Tucumán, with eight plants active this year, each producing an average of 36,000 cubic meters of bioethanol. The rest of the production is distributed between San Luis, Jujuy, Santa Fe and Salta provinces.
