Indian poultry producers ask government to drop corn import duties following move to corn-based ethanol

In India, Krishi Jagran reports that the Indian poultry industry urging the government to eliminate the 50% import duties on corn now that it has greenlighted the shift to half of the country’s ethanol demand to come from corn feedstock from 2025/26. The All India Poultry Breeder Association says domestic corn production isn’t sufficient to supply food and animal feed demand, let alone shift towards corn-based ethanol. About 60% of Indian corn production goes to animal feed.
