FKuR to distribute Braskem’s bio-based EVA in European markets and beyond

January 16, 2024 |

In Germany, Germany-based bioplastics specialist FKuR has signed a distribution agreement with Braskem for its I’m Green bio-based ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA). The company will be the official distributor in the EU, Switzerland, Norway, UK, Turkey, Israel, and India.

The agreement expands on FKuR and Braskem’s long-standing partnership, which started in 2011. FkuR adds EVA to the list of I’m Green bio-based polymers it already distributes worldwide, including PE, LDPE, LLDPE, and HDPE.

Braskem uses sustainably sourced sugarcane-based ethanol to produce I’m green bio-based EVA. Sugarcane absorbs CO2 from the atmosphere when growing, leading to reduced greenhouse emissions when using it as feedstock for plastics production. Depending on the grade, the biobased content of the I’m Green range is between 45% and 80%, based on the ASTM D6866 standard. Last July, Braskem spent $87 million to add more almost 59,000 tonnes of bio-based plastic feedstock in Triunfo, Brazil.

Braskem’s I’m green bio-based EVA is a family of bio-based EVA plastics that combine flexibility, lightness, and resistance. Applications include footwear, toys, sporting goods, tatami mats, and foams in general.

FKuR will be Braskem’s logistics partner in the countries covered, as well as the competent contact for technology, development, and application and marketing support.
