South Dakota senate passes E15 tax refund for retailers unanimously

January 29, 2024 |

In South Dakota, the Argus Leader reports that a bill to provide a 5 cent per gallon tax refund for fuel retailers on every gallon of E15 sold until 2030 passed the state’s senate unanimously last week. The money for the tax refund would come from the ethanol fund that comes from 1.5% of a tank inspection fee charged to fuel sellers that is overseen by the Governor’s Office of Economic Development. The bill needs to pass the state House and be signed by the governor before going into law in 2025.
