São Martinho’s CFO sees Brazil’s corn-based ethanol rush coming to an end

In Brazil, Bloomberg reports that São Martinho’s chief financial officer believes the gold rush to produce ethanol from corn in the country is coming to an end, saying that such plants are no longer economical. The company just commissioned a corn-based ethanol plant. Over the next few years, another 2.5 billion liters of installed capacity is expected to come online as existing projects come online. Lower DDGS prices are also hurting the viability of corn-based plants.
