Delta Airlines’ Monroe Energy may convert to SAF production

February 14, 2024 |

In Pennsylvania, OPIS reports Delta Airlines’ Monroe Energy refinery successfully produced renewable diesel last year at its upcoming 200,000 barrel/year facility in Trainer and an 8-K Securities and Exchange filing showed the company is exploring the possibility of producing Sustainable Aviation Fuel. Many facilities producing renewable diesel also produce SAF, so the switch is an obvious switch for the airline’s refinery. The shift towards renewable diesel production began in 2022 in an effort to offset the refinery’s RFS obligations.
