The Digest’s 2024 Multi-Slide Guide to Triple bottom line sustainability indicators for waste-to-energy supply chains

March 21, 2024 |

Development of a triple-bottom line sustainability (social, environment, economic) assessment tool for local government to evaluate trade-offs of different organic waste streams and energy conversion strategies can help achieve local/regional policy objectives over the current and long-term. A team of researchers funded by DOE have undertaken a project looking at the  opportunity in carbon recovery/minimizing carbon intensity in underutilized organic waste feedstocks to provide local government with the data and tools required to evaluate sustainability trade-offs for various technology pathways • barriers in the development of waste-to-energy plans. André Coleman and Timothy Seiple of Pacific Northwest National Laboratory presented these slides at DOE Project Peer Review on the progress to date.
