Sustainable science: Eppendorf unveils biobased PCR plates to

In Germany, lab consumables giant Eppendorf has launched PCR plates made of biobased polymers. With the introduction of twin.tec Trace Plates, Eppendorf “advances sustainability in lab environments, meeting growing demands for eco-friendly alternatives without sacrificing performance,” according to Biospectrum Asia.  The new plates come with 96 wells and are available in translucent clear.

PCR, or Polymerase Chain Reaction, is a widely used molecular biology technique to amplify a specific segment of DNA, producing millions of copies of that DNA sequence. Eppendorf and Neste signed an agreement in December 2023 for Eppendorf to use Neste’s biobased plastic in its products.
