Honeywell sees Brazil as a very attractive country to produce SAF

May 7, 2024 |

In Brazil, Folha de Pernambuco reported that Honeywell sees Brazil as a country with a lot of assets to lead the technological development of SAF. The availability of inputs, from agriculture, and knowledge in ethanol production are the country’s main assets in this field, said José Fernandes, president of Honeywell for Latin America. According to Fernandes, Honeywell is expected to close, in the coming months, six more technology supply projects in the country, the majority involving SAF or biofuels. “One of the ways to make SAF is using vegetable oils, lipids in general and animal fats. The other route is ethanol to jet. And the ethanol market in Brazil is also thriving. Brazil is a large producer of ethanol worldwide, second only to the United States,” said Fernandes. “When we see the availability of raw materials that exist in Brazil, this makes the country very attractive for many companies to establish themselves to produce the SAF that will power planes in the future,” the executive added.
