India’s transportation minister calls for renewable energy transition for public transport

In India, the Press Trust of India reports the transportation minister is calling for public transportation to switch to renewable fuels such as ethanol, methanol and bio-CNG in addition to electric. He said the organizations that operate public transport are weighed down by the cost of expensive fossil fuels and called for cheaper, local renewable solutions to help improve economic viability of the sector but also reduce carbon emissions. In Nagpur, 90 buses have been converted to biofuels with a total of 450 planned as part of the conversion program.
