India’s largest auto manufacturer looking to develop alternative fuel vehicles

In India, ethanol, methanol and bio-CNG are among the alternative fuels that the country’s largest auto manufacturer is looking to use in vehicles under development. Maruti Suzuki India is also looking into electric vehicles jointly with Toyota through its mother company Suzuki. The company says that electric mobility continues to be too expensive for smaller vehicles but wants to ensure reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from its vehicles. The company’s CEO highlighted that trade wars and sanctions such as those the US has on Iran negatively impact commodity prices, which could be a plus for electric.
