Cassava ID'd as key biofuels crop for Ghana

In Ghana, the Global Consultation on Cassava as a Potential Bioenergy Crop hosted by the UN Foundation, IFAD and Novozymes along with the Finnish and Italian governments concluded that cassava offers enormous opportunities for smallholder farmers and industrial agribusiness alike to produce sustainable biofuels for transport and energy production.

Like all first generation crops, continued R&D as well as sustainable practices and community involvement in projects are vital to making cassava a successful alternative fuel crop.
